Major 2018 cruise

For 2018 our major cruise destination is the Murray River near the Victorian border and another site still to be decided.  Altogether we will be on the Murray for a month which is something the TSASA hasn’t done for a while.  We have done a lot of eastern Australian coast trips in recent years  and this will give members with less holidays and travel time to join us.

NOTE SA school holidays are 29th Sept to 14th Oct

River Murray trip No 1

15th to 29th September 2018

Touring the Murray River near Victorian border (to join on to the later Lindsay River cruise).  We will use buses etc to drop off and return to boats if necessary.  Leader Ken May 0405 192 882 or kenjmay@westnet.com.au  Assistant leader to be advised.

Trip leader, Brian Barwick has already recently taken “Osprey” with Helen Smith to explore Lindsay Creek which has not been part of a TSA expedition so far. It promises to be an exciting cruise where we can explore aboriginal sites /old farmer’s cattle ferries / a  boat wreck /some secret islands  /plus wonderful wildlife exploration on foot and by canoe or zodiac up the Malaroo creek.  Malaroo Creek is approximately 25 km long and runs eastwards off the Lindsay Creek about 15 km upstream from Higgins cutting on the Murray. Brian has visited Lindsay creek twice now and is keen to show TSA members this historical, quiet, deep backwater which has two boat ramps suitable for trailerable yachts, which could be handy for those not sticking to the trip start and finish dates(more details coming).

Brian‘s trip could be commenced at Customs House on the South Australian border (more details coming) or the 637 km mark where there is secure parking fuel etc . Renmark, about 25 Km away, offers all normal shopping facilities . Customs House is possibly also a suitable entry and exiting point for the earlier Murray trip run by Ken May.
